[He doesn't come back to Westside often, honestly - but he's here today, and he's here to find Sephiroth in particular. It's probably one of Sephiroth's days off, at least; bodyguard duties are still Important, especially when dealing with Xie Lian of all people.
Either way, he's in an unusually somber mood when he spots his POOR FRIEND WHO DOESN'T EVEN REMEMBER THEY'RE FRIENDS, god.]
Well, it is a day off, and Sephiroth is the sort of man who doesn’t know what to do with it. Has always worked, always kept busy somehow, back in Midgar. Even playing at a life that isn’t his, one that he knows is just a farce to achieve some nebulous goal, it’s… strange.
He almost welcomes his apparent “friend” walking up to him, asking him a question with expectation in his eyes. His face is as placid as ever.]
[Good thing there's hardly ever a chance for true downtime in a mafia town... BOY does he wish that wasn't the case right about now, but you gotta make the most of the hand you're dealt!
That said, he'll glance around the area. He's extra cautious these days, and Xian Le territory doesn't exactly feel the safest... With a nod, he indicates the eastern direction he'd come from.]
There's a cafe just across the town border in Middleton that doesn't have many people around at this time. I'd like to talk there, if it's all the same.
[While they're meandering, he at least has the courtesy to ask after Sephiroth. They may not get the chance to speak as often as they did before he peaced right outta Westside, but he still cares about all of the people he'd left behind.]
How are things doing here? Xie Lian seemed like he was giving Kara a good share of grey hairs last I checked in.
[Playing the part does not come naturally to him. He's always had one strict role, one way of moving through life; to pretend at another feels strange, like reading a script he cannot quite connect with.
He makes the effort all the same. Sephiroth's voice cool and plain, rarely reveals much.]
A handful, like always. Does that really surprise you? At least mine is free from the stress.
[His hair, he means. You know, because it's already a long sheen of silver.]
[Though he's not in anywhere near as boisterous a mood as usual, that still gets a snicker out of him.]
Makes you a perfect pick for a high-stress job like this one! No one can actually tell whether or not it's wearing you out. Even I'd have been fooled, if I didn't know the two of you myself.
[But he says it fondly, since he loves his entire mess of Xian Les even if he's no longer really a part of it.
Then, a little more seriously but still casual enough to blend in with the conversation and not draw unwanted outside attention:] I've heard things have been a little tense lately.
action!
